TOM ACKLEN
Tom has a degree in Business
Administration from Marywood University. He is one of the founding
Principals in Government Partners.
Tom was previously the Director of Marketing and Senior Consultant for a
marketing consulting company in Austin for over five years. In
this capacity he represented clients to enhance their business
revenue and assisted in developing both state and nationwide plans
for marketing their products and services. Tom was the Deputy Commissioner of Management Information Systems (CIO)
at the Texas Department of Human Services and provided
legislative support for both program and technology issues. Previous
experience in state government was for Accenture and Bull
Information Systems. At Bull Tom developed nationwide
programs that he marketed to state government.
Tom has many
years of Federal Government experience in the Department of
Veteran Affairs where he served as Director of the
Austin Automation Center and Finance Center and the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Information Technology
and Telecommunications in Washington D.C.
Industry Leadership: Mr. Acklen was the
President of the Texas Association of State Systems for Computing
and Communications, Board Member of the American Public Welfare
Association, Chair of the Government Technology Conference,
Government Technology Vendor Advisory Board and a member of the
National Association of Chief Information Officers.
